Around San Francisco

I recently spent the better part of a week in San Francisco on business. Here are a few pictures I took around the city.

I was in San Francisco to attend DrupalCon, an open source content management system conference which was much more fun than it sounds like it should be.

The conference was held at the Moscone Center in downtown so we stayed at the Parc 55 Hotel which was only a few blocks away. This is the view from the room. You can see the Transamerica building in the distance.

Walking around downtown between the hotel and the Moscone Center.

I saw this AT&T advertisement while waiting for the bus one day. You can see someone crossed out the "Coverage" line and wrote "Liars" under it. It seemed like everyone in San Francisco had an iPhone and AT&T's service in big cities is notoriously bad... I didn't have any major problems but it was difficult to get a signal a few times.

It wouldn't be a trip to San Francisco without a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge. This was quite a way from the Moscone, it took about 40 minutes by bus to get to the toll booths before the bridge.

Here's the view of downtown from the Golden Gate Bridge. You can see the same Transamerica building in the middle.

I wasn't able to get around this tree... so you can just barely see Alcatraz floating in the bay.

There were several great brew pubs in San Francisco that I got to visit. This is a glass of Golden Vanilla from the Thirsty Bear Brewing Company near the Moscone Center. The Thirsty Bear serves gourmet small plates and tapas with their "organic, handcrafted" beer. Another highlight was the 21st Amendment and their Hell or High Watermelon Wheat.
